Some marketers may say their products are “FDA approved.” But how can you know for sure what the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved? There may be restrictions on the items you bring into Canada for your own personal use. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is publishing information collected during the 2020 Chemical Data Reporting (CDR) cycle to increase public awareness of chemicals being manufactured in communities and to enable citizen and stakeholder access and use of the reported information. The proposed rule includes new and amended requirements that, if finalized, would increase transparency, modernize reporting and review procedures, and ensure consistency with the 2016 amendments to TSCA This guidance document is intended to inform the sprout seed industry (seed growers, conditioners, packers, holders, suppliers, and distributors) of FDA’s serious concern with the continuing outbreaks of foodborne illness associated with the consumption of raw and lightly-cooked sprouts and to provide our recommendations to firms throughout the production chain of seed for sprouting. This guidance describes the benefit-risk principles applied by FDA when conducting product quality-related assessments of chemistry, manufacturing, and controls (CMC) information submitted for FDA assessment as part of original new drug applications (NDAs) under section 505 of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act), original biologics license applications (BLAs) under section 351 of the Public Health Service Act (PHS Act), or supplements to such applications, in addition to other information (e.g., inspectional findings) available to FDA during its assessment. This notice provides revisions to the National Hazardous Materials Route Registry (NHMRR) reported to FMCSA from April 1, 2021 through March 31, 2022. The California Air Resources Board (CARB) today released a draft plan that, when final, will guide the state’s transition to a clean energy economy, drastically reduce the use of fossil fuels, achieve carbon neutrality by 2045 or sooner, and significantly clean the state’s air especially in disadvantaged communities disproportionately burdened by persistent pollution. The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) have launched 41 new consultations on testing proposals. The deadline for comments is 27 June 2022. There are currently 67 open consultations on testing proposals. The consultations carried out by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and ECHA on the draft assessments of glyphosate attracted an unprecedented number of comments, confirming the high level of interest in this substance. Such a level of public participation underlines the importance of transparency in the evaluation of active substances in the EU.
