This study by the FDA was designed to improve understanding of the environmental factors that may impact the presence of foodborne pathogens in the Southwest agricultural region. The research team was particularly interested in identifying new information about factors that significantly contribute to the introduction, persistence, growth, spread, and die-off of pathogens that could contaminate produce prior to harvest in this region. The World Trade Organisation launched “Addressing Illicit Trade in Food and Food Fraud”, on 28 May. This short report gives a high-level overview of current estimates of fraud in the global food trade, including listing the sectors where fraud is believed to be most prevalent. Work is underway to develop ISO’s first international standard on net zero. It is expected to launch next year at COP30 in November 2025 and is being designed to provide a global solution to guide organizations as they embark on their net zero transition.
