A “best-before” date, also known as a durable life date, tells you when the durable life period of a prepackaged food ends. An expiration date is not the same as a best-before date. Expiration dates are required only on certain foods that have strict compositional and nutritional specifications which might not be met after the expiration date. Throughout August, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is asking Canadians to check for invasive pests in their own backyard in honour of Tree Check Month. (By Eric Whitley, Food Safety News) Predictive maintenance is a proactive approach to maintenance management, and as its name suggests, the aim is to help predict when maintenance should be performed. It is a data-driven form of maintenance designed to analyze the current condition of equipment and machinery in order to plan for needed interventions. On September 20, 2022, the Competition Bureau will host the Competition and Green Growth Summit, where experts will discuss the interaction between competition law and policy and sustainability. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has updated its hazard assessment for DINP and is proposing to add DINP as a category defined to include branched alkyl di-esters of 1,2 benzenedicarboxylic acid in which alkyl ester moieties contain a total of nine carbons.
