To stay competitive and grow, small and medium-sized businesses need to adopt new digital tools. In Budget 2021, the Government of Canada announced the $4 billion Canada Digital Adoption Program (CDAP) to help get your business online, give your e-commerce presence a boost or help digitalize your business’s operations. CDAP provides funding and support to businesses, as well as training and work opportunities for young Canadians. The 2022 campaign will focus on the ways in which safer food can improve health and well-being, not only our physical health, but also that of animals and environment. Attention will also be given to the ways our food systems as whole need to improve, so that we can grow, trade and consume healthy and nutritious food. Preparation is key when managing food, drug or cosmetic product recalls. It is critical for firms to be recall ready so that they can act quickly and effectively to protect the public from violative products on the market. A voluntary recall is an action taken by a company to correct a violative product or remove it from the market.
The WorkSafeBC Strategic Plan 2022-2026 updates WorkSafeBC’s vision, mission, and values, explains the organization’s strategic choices, identifies environmental factors and potential risks, and defines desired outcomes and ways to measure our progress The Ontario government is directing the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) to explore an increase in compensation for workers who become injured or ill on the job. The plan to raise benefits would direct more money to injured workers and families, while minimizing the impact on the Board’s financial health and employers’ premium rates. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA or we) is announcing the availability of a draft guidance for industry entitled “Policy Regarding N-acetyl-L-cysteine: Draft Guidance for Industry.” The draft guidance, when finalized, will explain our intent to exercise enforcement discretion with respect to the sale and distribution of certain products that contain N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC) and are labeled as dietary supplements. Submit comments by May 23, 2022. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is proposing to approve Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) pathways for certain biofuels that are produced from canola/rapeseed oil and is providing an opportunity for comment on the Agency’s lifecycle greenhouse gas (GHG) analysis of these pathways. With the approval, these fuel pathways would be eligible to generate Renewable Identification Numbers (RINs), provided they satisfy the other definitional and RIN generation criteria for renewable fuel specified in the RFS regulations. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is partnering with the PETA Science Consortium International and the Physicians for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) to host public webinars on various topics related to reducing, refining, or replacing vertebrate animal testing. The May 11, 2022, webinar is entitled Data-Driven Solutions to Reducing Animal Use in Ecotoxicity. The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration is initiating an enforcement program that identifies employers who failed to submit Form 300A data through the agency’s Injury Tracking Application (ITA). Annual electronic submissions are required by establishments with 250 or more employees currently required to keep OSHA injury and illness records, and establishments with 20-249 employees classified in specific industries with historically high rates of occupational injuries and illnesses. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued its final rule for added fluoride levels in bottled water titled Beverages: Bottled Water. This final rule amends the allowable level for fluoride in domestically packaged and imported bottled water to which fluoride is added to 0.7 milligrams per liter (mg/L). The U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a draft guidance that, when finalized, will outline the agency’s approach to evaluating the public health importance of food allergens that are not one of the major nine food allergens identified by law in the U.S (non-listed food allergens). Effective July 1, 2022 European exporters must notify their intention to export 22 chemicals following an amendment to the Prior Informed Consent (PIC) Regulation.
