The Chief Public Health Officer announced changes to Prince Edward Island’s legal order from seven days of isolation to now requiring five days of isolation for positive cases of COVID-19 (10 days of isolation for immune compromised cases) and are required to wear a mask for five days after isolation when they are in indoor public places. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA or Agency) is announcing the availability of a draft guidance for industry entitled “Statement of Identity and Strength–Content and Format of Labeling for Human Nonprescription Drug Products.” This draft guidance provides recommendations for the content and format of the required statement of identity on the labeling of human nonprescription drug products. The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (Task Force) published a final recommendation statement on the use of vitamin, mineral, and multivitamin supplements to prevent cardiovascular disease (CVD) and cancer. The current evidence is insufficient to determine the benefits and harms of taking most vitamin, mineral, and multivitamin supplements to prevent heart disease, stroke, and cancer. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has issued a request for comments concerning the extent to which motor carriers currently rely on the emergency declaration to deliver certain commodities and whether there has been any impact on safety. Under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act of 1980, as amended (“CERCLA” or “Superfund”), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA or the Agency) is proposing to designate perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS), including their salts and structural isomers, as hazardous substances. CERCLA authorizes the Administrator to promulgate regulations designating as hazardous substances such elements, compounds, mixtures, solutions, and substances which, when released into the environment, may present substantial danger to the public health or welfare or the environment. The California Air Resources Board staff invites you to participate in a public webinar being held September 21, 2022 and provide input on proposed area designations for State ambient air quality standards. On September 1, 2022, the Office of Administrative Law approved the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment’s proposal to amend Title 27, California Code of Regulations by adopting Sections 25607.48 and 25607.49. These new sections provide safe harbor guidance for businesses that cause exposures to glyphosate from consumer products that require a warning. Member States or the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), on request of the European Commission, may propose a substance to be identified as an SVHC by preparing a dossier in accordance with the requirements set out in Annex XV to REACH. The Annex XV reports can be found by selecting the “Details” button in the table listing the substances that are proposed. All interested parties are invited to submit comments on such reports during the consultation. The deadline for submission is October 17, 2022. The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) Member State Committee (MSC) agreed to modify the approach for investigating chromosomal aberration under REACH dossier evaluation during its June meeting. (CIRS) South Korea published the revised K-REACH implementation rules. The revised rules ease the exemption requirements for new chemical substances with an annual import volume of less than 0.1t/y for R&D purposes by exempting the specific name and CAS number of the chemical substances.
